Genesis 39:9 GNB
“I have as much authority in this house as he has, and he has not kept back anything from me except you. How then could I do such an immoral thing and sin against God?”
The story of Joseph is a popular one. He found himself in situations he never imagined; forcefully separated from his family at age 17, faced with this huge temptation at Potipher’s house while in a strange land but one thing stood out for me: his principles and convictions about God didn’t change.
Do you find yourself in uncomfortable situations where you are being pressurized to make compromises that contradicts your principles/beliefs? How strong is your conviction and on what foundation was it laid on?
The unpredictables happen but what you do when it happens is what matters. Joseph was the closest to Jacob so I believe he must have been taught certain things about God which had built his convictions over time. No one celebrates a near success but only those who, despite the hurdles choosed not to give up nor derail.
Build convictions on God’s word such that when pressure comes, his word would keep you going. Here is also an advice on what you should do when stucked or when you find yourself in strange situations: Pray! Pray! and Pray! That’s right, pray that you do not fall into temptation (Matthew 26:41). Pray that your strength may not fail, pray that your strength be renewed (Isaiah 40:31) There is indeed power in prayers.
In summary: strange circumstances happen but let it be to strengthen you and push you towards success, not to weaken you and cause you to give up. The choice is yours.
